Where can you find the Hedgehog Club during the summer holidays


Woodland Club at Cogges Museum 10am – 2pm, drop in, no need to book:

August 14th – All things worms. Come along and make a wormery, have a go at worm charming and listen to the story of Superworm. Other activities will include den building, mud kitchen, bug hunting, camp fire cooking and natural art. These sessions are open to all ages – preschool to 11 years.

August 21st – Collecting wild flower seeds, making seed bombs and planters from newspaper to plant them. Other activities also available. (See August 14th.)

August 28th – We are Going on a Bear Hunt… Can you find the bears hidden in the woods? Follow the trail through the woods and beyond. Make a map from natural materials and create your own trail. Other activities also available.


Family Forest School at Blenheim Palace

If you have an annual pass or are visiting for the day you can join in with sessions down by the lake for free. They are open to all ages and run from 10.30am -3pm. So come down to the lakeside site, say hello, catch some butterflies, build a den or play in the mud kitchen. Bring a picnic and stay for the whole day. I will be there during the holidays on August 15th, 22nd and 29th.


Summer Activity Days at Hailey Community Woodland.

The days run from 10am -4pm. It is £30 for a day. Ages 5 -11 years can be dropped off but younger ones need to have an adult with them. Booking for these days is through the website and needs to be paid in advance. Places are limited so please book soon.

August 16th – 20 Things to do Outdoors before you are 11 and 3/4s

This day is for 5 years and upwards. During the day we will explore the woods, make bug houses, hold a slug and snail race, use maps to find our way around the woods, make a natural picture frame and natural art picture and toast some marshmallows around the fire. (Only a few places left on this day, so book your place soon.)

August 23rd – Preschool Group.

This session is suitable for babies and toddlers from 6 months up to 4 years. They need to be accompanied by an adult. There are full or half day sessions available. The cost is £30 for a full day and £15 for a half day.

Activities on this day will be based on the stories by Julia Donaldson – The Scarecrows’ Wedding, The Highway Rat, The Gruffalo and Stick Man.

Activities will include: making a scarecrow for the wedding, a hobby horse for the rat, make a stick man as big or as small as you can……to name but a few.

Primary Group – from 5 years upwards. (Drop off.) £30 for a full day.

This group will learn how to survive in the wild. Can you make clean water using a plastic bottle and some grass? Can you forage for food and cook your own survival stew? Can you light a fire without matches? Come along to this session and find out how.

August 30th – Preschool Group.

Activities on this day will be all about bugs. The stories we will listen to will include: Anansi the Spider, Superworm, The Very Busy Spider and Ladybird Finds a Home.

Come along and make bugs in clay, go on a bug hunt, spin a spiders web in the trees, build a home for a minibeast, hold a bug Olympics….. to name but a few of the things we will do.

Primary Group – from 5 years upwards. (Drop off.) £30 for a full day.

Today is all about learning some new skills and using tools. We will make a bow and arrow, make some charcoal and make your own mallet. We will also learn some new ways to make fires.
