The Hedgehog Club is 1 year old!

Can you believe that? I can’t believe how quickly that year has gone.

It has been an amazing year with lots of fun and learning for me and the children. I have been privileged to meet so many wonderful children and their brilliant carers who are willing to embrace the great outdoors no matter what it throws at us: sun, rain, wind, mist, ice and snow. What a treat it has been, and long may it continue!

Mum I loved that. The woods are just in me I love it. I always love the woods.” 8 year old participant in one of The Hedgehog Club activity days for older children.

And the little boy who found a pill bug – the woodlice that curls up into a ball.

That is just a piece of junk.” 2 minutes later he is screaming – “It’s got legs! It’s got legs!”

These are just some of the reasons I love what I am doing. Thank you.

What happens at Hedgehog Club?

A typical Hedgehog Club session involves taking part in a nature related story, creating something crafty, cooking up a storm in the mud kitchen, chilling in the hammocks, exploring the woods, bug hunting and cooking a snack on the fire to enjoy with your hot chocolate and home made biscuits. These vary depending on weather and time of year.
