What Mandy Did Next...

When I left teaching in 2013 I volunteered on a Girls Education project with VSO in Nepal. This was an amazing experience and gave me time to think about the next step in my career. I had heard about Forest School and had wanted to do the training for sometime. So on returning to the UK in 2014 I decided to go for it and started my training - a decision I have never regretted.

This led to my working at the Hill End centre and starting The Hedgehog Club. After running the club for 5 years I am semi-retiring and letting others take the lead on the term time work. I will still be running the holiday clubs and will be in the background supporting the term time work.

But what will I do with all that free time you ask…. I have a million ideas from travelling in our motorhome to volunteering in the Oxfam Bookshop and so many other ideas in between. The immediate plan is a 3-week trip to Orkney to experience all the nature and wildlife it has to offer, which I am very excited about. I will keep you up to date on what I do next, and I am sure I will see you around Witney.

I want to thank all you lovely people who have supported The Hedgehog Club over those years and helped it grow into what it is now. When lock down happened I thought that was it but I think the pandemic has shown us that nature and getting outside is more important than ever.

So this is not farewell but au revoir. Keep getting outside, playing in the mud and lifting those logs to find out what is underneath. Don’t ever lose that curiosity.
